QFD or Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was originally developed in Japan in 1966 by Doctor Joki Akao. This cross functional, team based methodology is a key tool in New Product/Service Design and Development.
QFD transforms customer needs into a prioritized set of critical customer product or service characteristics, identifies in-turn a prioritized set of corresponding critical process characteristics, and lastly identifies a prioritized set of corresponding critical process controls. It operates a cascading approach to ensure structured design planning and proactive correlation between the different phases of the Design effort.
This Quality Function Deployment (QFD) training course covers the techniques and principals of QFD, plus it gives you a brief historical background and benefits of the QFD. This course also teaches the calculation and data collecting methods required for the four phases of QFD process. Also learn how to design strong products and services, how to document process design policies, and how to develop effective control and maintenance systems. During the course you will learn practical tips and tactics about conducting QFD product planning and create and grow a practical understanding of how to apply QFD. Such understanding later can be applied in hearing the Voice Of the Customer (VOC), conducting competitive assessment, creating products strategies, and develop product requirements.
By attending Quality Function Deployment (QFD) workshop, delegates will learn to :
- Define QFD
- Explain the theory and principals of QFD
- Understand the concept of House of Quality
- Identify the people need to be involved in QFD
- Conduct best practices for deriving quality inputs into the House of Quality
- Understand the voice of the customer
- Determine the difference between a true customer need and a technical descriptor
- Calculate Phase 1 QFD matrix
- Identify data necessary for every room in a four-phase QFD process
- Discuss the benefits of QFD in successful new product development
- Identify where/how QFD should be applied
- Perform competitive analysis
- Analyze the QFD results
- Put QFD techniques in action
- Cut the time in half to run a more effective QFD
- Use QFD in various product and service industries
- Make their QFD productive, efficient, effective, and fun
The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) class is ideal for:
- New product development personnel
- Project managers
- Marketing and sales teams
- R&D personnel
- Design product and process team
- Manufacturing engineers and managers
- Service teams
- Quality personnel
- Quality consultants, Six Sigma, Lean Sigma, DFLS, DFSS, etc
- All individuals involved in QFD procedures
